Jim Justice (R) signed into law WV [S.B. 469](https://www.wvlegislature.gov/Bill_Status/bills_history.cfm?INPUT=469&year=2021&sessiontype=RS) (2021), which adds several new sections to the West Virginia Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (W.V. Stat. Ann. §§ 39-4-1 *et seq.*), including two which permanently authorize remote online notarizations (“RON”). Temporary use of RON was permitted during the COVID-19 Pandemic by Executive Order 11-20, § 6. This bill takes effect on June 17, 2021. We are currently reviewing this bill to determine any impact, and evaluating any modifications, to our document library and/or systems.
