To be in better compliance with this statute, we have changed the notarial certificate from an acknowledgement to a jurat. In addition, during COVID, many states enacted executive orders to allow for remote online notary (RON) and in person electronic notary (IPEN). Missouri was one of these states. When the executive order expired, Missouri codified provisions allowing for RON in VAMS 486.1175 and IPEN in VAMS 486.750.
