Document Updates: Lender’s Certification of Veteran Alive at Time of Closing (Cx16760)

VA Lenders Handbook M26-7, Chapter 9, Topic 8(c) states: “The lender must always verify that the Veteran is alive at the time of loan closing.”

When Cx16760 “Lender’s Certification of Veteran Alive at Time of Closing” was originally created, it only took into consideration instances where there was only one veteran borrower per loan package.

To accommodate for instances where there is more than one veteran borrower per loan package, the following fields have been renamed:

Field 111186   Veteran 1 Alive and Well Evidence Date
Field 111187   Veteran 1 Alive and Well Evidence Type

and the following fields have been created:

Field 189028   Veteran 2 Alive and Well Evidence Date
Field 189029   Veteran 2 Alive and Well Evidence Type

(Please note that ConformX currently only supports up to two Veterans per loan, and these Veterans must be entered as Borrower 1 and Borrower 2.)

Cx16760 will also print when one or both of the following fields are ‘Yes’:

Field 178   Borrower 1 Power of Attorney enabled
Field 198   Borrower 2 Power of Attorney enabled

UPDATE:

To ensure that Cx16760 only prints by default when both/either Borrower 1 and/or Borrower 2 is a Veteran with a Power of Attorney, the print configuration has been updated to include:

Field 49935     Borrower 2 Veteran Status = Yes

Previously, a section in Cx16760 always printed for Borrower 1 regardless of whether or not they had a Power of Attorney. To ensure that the correct content only prints for Veterans with a Power of Attorney, the following conditions must be met either: 1) individually for Borrower 1 or Borrower 2; or 2) together if both Borrower 1 and Borrower 2 are Veterans with Powers of Attorney:

Field 49931     Borrower 1 Veteran Status = Yes
Field 178         Borrower 1 Power of Attorney = Yes

Field 49935     Borrower 2 Veteran Status = Yes
Field 198         Borrower 2 Power of Attorney = Yes
