On August 20, 2021, the IRS announced their plan to modernize Form 4506-C (our Cx3095) also known as the IVES Request for Transcript of Tax Return. We have been closely monitoring the changes the IRS has released for the form and have made a few updates this year, which include adding additional tax transcript functionality.
Coming down the pipeline is another change from the IRS for Form 4506-C. The IRS posted a draft of a newer, cleaner version of Form 4506-C which will be required starting December 1, 2022. This version will work better with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) programming to enhance the automated processing of Form 4506-C. Once the IRS posts the final version of the form, we will begin the process of updating our document. We anticipate the final version to be posted around mid-October.
The draft of the 4506-C posted on the IRS website is not a final version and more changes will likely be made. The IRS is currently accepting comments regarding this form. Directions for submitting comments are located here. Once a final draft has been submitted, we will begin the process of making changes to the document.
