The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently made an August 2026 revision to Your Home Loan Toolkit available on its website. The CFPB has indicated that the revised Toolkit may be used immediately and that previously printed supplies of earlier versions may continue to be used until exhausted. When reprinting, the CFPB instructs industry participants to use the most recent version.
Regulation X provides that the CFPB “may from time to time revise the special information booklet, publishing a notice in the Federal Register.” See 12 CFR § 1024.6(b). Unlike the CFPB's 2015 revision of the Toolkit, we have not identified a corresponding Federal Register notice announcing the 2026 revision.
Docutech is currently reviewing the revised Toolkit to determine the scope of the changes and applicable compliance requirements, including the distinction between permitted and mandatory use of the revised version. We will provide additional information regarding implementation once that review is complete.
