We have made a small update to better support recording requirements in Kansas.
Kansas statute (K.S.A. 28-115) allows the Register of Deeds to charge an additional $1 if the names of the signer(s) or notary are not clearly typed or printed beneath their signatures. While this isn’t required under Kansas notary law, including printed names helps avoid the extra fee.
Currently, the notary name prints under the signature if it is sent using 1154 "Security Instrument Notary Name”. However, if the notary name is not sent, that space was previously blank.
To prompt notaries to include their printed name, we’ve added a “Notary Public Printed Name” label and line beneath the notary signature to go along with Field 1154. See the example below:
