This document is provided pursuant to S.C. Code Ann. § 37-23-70(D), which requires (inter alia) that “the mortgage broker, originator, or employee shall provide the borrower with a document specifying the agency designated to receive complaints . . . with the telephone number . . . of the agency. . . .”
Currently, we are providing separate numbers for the S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs and the S.C. State Board of Financial Institutions, with a toll-free number applicable to both agencies (see https://compliance.docutech.com/2018/02/07/document-updates-south-carolina-agency-receive-borrower-complaints-cx4694/ for details).
We have been apprised of the fact that the toll-free number is only applicable to the S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs, therefore we will be configuring this number only to print under the same conditions as when the name and address of the Department print (when FI 18205 “Lender Is A Broker” equals “Yes”).
