On April 21, 2021 Gov. Laura Kelly (D) signed into law KS SB 106 (2021), which repeals the Kansas Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 53-501 through 53-511) and replaces it with a new Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts. These changes include:

  • Repealing the short-form notarial certificates promulgated under § 53-509 and authorizing the Kansas Secretary of State to promulgate such short-forms in the future (see § 17); and
  • New support for remote online notarizations (g., see § 15[d])

The Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts will take effect on January 1, 2022.

We are currently reviewing this law to determine any impact, and evaluating any modifications, to our document library and/or systems. Any modifications we make as a result will be announced on our website (https://compliance.docutech.com/).
