As previously announced, Cal. Gov’t Code § 27388.1 was created to permit county recording offices to charge an extra $75 for “every real estate instrument, paper, or notice required or permitted by law to be recorded, except those expressly exempted from payment of recording fees, per each single transaction per parcel of real property” (see 2017 Cal. Legis. Serv. Ch. 364). Several counties created cover sheets documenting reasons why a specific transaction is exempt from these recording fees. Docutech’s version of this recording fee exemption sheet is Cx21960.
In response to client requests, we have created several dozen new fields that allow a Lender to electronically populate Cx21960. The document prints with two versions of the form; one for Security Instruments, and one for Assignments. Consequently, we have created a series of fields for both versions of Cx21960. The new fields that will mark the exemption reason checkboxes are:

In addition, in order to provide more consistency, we have replaced the upper portion of Cx21960 with the same section from our generic first lien California Deed of Trust, Cx312. The “Return To” and “Prepared By” sections will appear exactly as they do on Cx312.
