Just a quick update on the progress of the combined RESPA/TILA disclosures being vetted by the CFPB. In January the CFPB released two more versions of the settlement statement for public review. These were the 7th and 8th forms sent out for informal review and comment. The most recent versions of the forms can be found here: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/knowbeforeyouowe/. Most industry experts expect to see an official proposed rule released for comment in July 2012. Be sure to get out and take a look at the forms and provide your comments. Many have been making suggestions on ways to make the forms shorter and easier for borrowers to understand, other popular opinions have to do with better segregation of costs so borrowers understand the different sources of costs associated with their loan. Be sure to make your opinions known before it’s too late.
