Unlike other states, the common security instrument used in Georgia is a “security deed.” According to MERS System Procedures Manual – Release 25.5.1, when MERS is referenced in the security instrument, they should be referred to as “grantee” if the security instrument is a “security deed” (p. 191).
Due to this provision, we will be changing the reference to MERS on the first page in Cx371 from “beneficiary” to “grantee.” MERS is already referred to as a “grantee” in our other Georgia security instruments.
This change will take effect on July 25, 2014. If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please contact Client Support at at 1.800.497.3584.
